011: Sinking City 111 / Radcliffeborough, Cannonborough and Elliotsborough
Cannonborough! Radcliffeborough! Elliotborough! Oh, my!!!
Whew... well, we had to lean in to that one. Three boroughs equaled three times the fun, and maybe slightly more than three times the effort? Despite the oppressive heat, CanRadEll (as we affectionately dubbed her) left us both agreeing it was our favorite outing to date. A diversity of people & neighborhood vernacular kept us snapping photos and smiling the whole way. The number of short streets, loop-d-loos (technical term), and dead ends kept us ever guessing and course correcting - not to mention reconciling Strava’s heat map with the legal street map we carry with us. Speaking of heat, did I mention this day in the high 90’s just about cooked our brains come mile 14? But have no fear, we persevered. We found salvation in a final mile run-in with a couple of friends and their waiting garden hose. They were easily convinced to wet us down, head to toe. Five neighborhoods to go...
Stats: 10.5 total street miles, 8.8 of which are on historic dry land and 1.7 on floody artificial fill. These Radcliffborough, Cannonborough and Elliotsborough neighborhood streets were fun to move through, despite the hot temps (summer solstice run) and complex grid (lots of backtracking meant we totaled out at 14 miles).
